NO SEED, NO LIFE – 1 Kings 17:11-12

Why do you think farmers set aside a portion of their produce as seed for the next planting? In fact they plant the best seeds and not leftovers. A farmer will choose to starve rather than eat or sell the seeds in his house. He knows that if he does, then he’s got no hope next season. His hunger will persist for long.

2 Cor 9:10 says God gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater.

From this above scripture, it is clear that God provides seed – if you care to ask. It is good to ask for big things, but maybe you should begin to ask for big seeds to sow. Your harvest will be a function of your seed and not of your prayer. When you request for big things from God, you better ask him to provide you with big seeds to sow.. Big harvests happen from big sowing and not just by asking for big things.

The bigger your requests, the bigger your seed should be. If you’re asking God for something and you’re not led to sow seeds towards it, please check your heart. Because everywhere in the scriptures, big harvest come from big seeds. It’s the reason Abraham had to sow Isaac in Genesis 22 and he became a father of many nations afterall.

If you do not sow seeds, you will not only struggle financially, your health may fail you and there’s no deposit of favour for you to draw from. The woman of Zarephath in 1 Kings 17:11-15 is a perfect example of the seed bringing both financial blessings and preservation.

No seed, no life. It’s not only about money, it’s about life! Your seed preserves your life. Stop saying “I don’t have”. It’s dangerous not to have anything to sow when there’s an opportunity to sow. Check well, you have something. Maybe not money, but you have something. Had the widow of Zarephath refused Elijah’s request for her to give up their last meal, she would have eaten it and died of hunger, with her son. In Mat 13:12; 25:29, Jesus was saying in essense.:

Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. That’s instructive! That little on your hands cannot sustain you. Let it go, sow it, and multiplication is certain!
