Whenever you engage in habits that do not please God, – maybe deceit, lies, and other sinful habits, it’s because you do not yet trust him to help you and heal you in those areas. Hence, he leaves you to struggle with them. If you delay in letting go of those sinful habbits, the devil may start taking advantage of you in those areas. Many Christian’s have been careless and got destroyed because they held back certain areas of their lives. When the world learns of their downfall, they say many things in ignorance, whereas it’s a failure unreleased territories of their lives, and the devil capitalized on such to take hold of them.
One thing very interesting these nowadays is that there are more sermons on prayer than the actually exercise of prayer itself. People would rather preach or listen to beautiful messages about prayer than go ahead in reality and boost their prayer life. It’s the reason the world doesn’t take us serious. Bible says in Psalms 110 verse 3 that in the days of His power, the people shall be willing. The only way to activate that power and engage it to work for us is when we pray. When we pray, power is made available, grace is made available to ride above any weakness we have, in other words we are made powerful. But If we don’t pray, God’s power will not reduce though, but we will not experience much of His move on our behalf.
Here’s one thing very easy to do when you get to any river, famished and thirsty. You Just throw your self into the river and have a complete bath. A complete wash from head to toe – washing all open and hidden parts of your body. There’s no better way to become clean than this. Now, this washing is what the Bible calls sanctification in Ephesians 5:26_
Read: EPH 5:26
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word. Here again we see that the water sanctifies.

Now, this washing is what the Bible calls sanctification in Ephesians 5:26.
Ephesians 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word. Here again we see that the water sanctifies.
But yet again, let’s remember that the Blood of Jesus has also been shed for our sanctification and washing away of our sins. Jesus said that Himself in Mat 26:28.
For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Well we are not surprised, since He is the river, as we come to wash in him,He washed us with his blood instead. In this class, we will move back in history and see an old testament parallel of that sanctification. It is called circumcision, and we’d be learning from no other person than Father Abraham. We will learn as many lessons as we can from the circumcision/sanctification exercise he performed on Himself and his household.
In Gen chapter 17 verses 23 to 27, Abraham had just concluded a spiritual exercise. He didn’t just do it for himself and his own family, he extended it to everyone working with him. Every staff in his conglomerate, and every child born into his enterprise or that he bought with his money. You know, in those days, children born of slaves in their master’s service still belong to the master.
Abraham didn’t discriminate. “Whether you are my biological son, or not, you must carry the same anointing I carry. You must enjoy the same grace I enjoy. Whether you are my employee or children of my employees, I know I have the oversight on you. Working with me or serving with me should be a privilege for you and not a curse.”
For many leaders, working with or for them is like a curse instead of being a blessing. You can’t see their followers and sense any grace of their leaders on them.
In fact, what you see is the opposite. Rich leader, poor followers. Healthy leader, sick followers. Fat leader, thin followers. It’s not right. Now, get me right, I know it’s not entirely up to the leader to make his followers be like him, and also not all followers carry the spirit of their leader. Some will be odds, just like the case of Judas Iscariot with our Lord Jesus Christ. But the thing is, whatever a leader covets, his followers will have, because then will God show him what to do for them to be like him – Just like Peter, James and John and most of the other disciples, also with Jesus.
As a father, whatever you don’t covet, your children will not get. Anyone of them that wants it will work extra hard to get it. It’s the reason many of us find it hard to rise in destiny. Because our parents (both biological and spiritual) either didn’t achieve what we are aiming for, or maybe they did achieve it, but were never deliberate at imparting their children with it. Have you seen a man of God on fire, performing miracles, yet his children cannot even conduct an impactful prayer session, let alone heal an headache? That was the case of Eli’s children in 1 Samuel 2:12 and Samuel’s children in 1 Samuel 8:3
In Gen 17:24-25, check out the fact that Abraham started the circumcision with himself and then His son, Ishmael. Even though God had just concluded telling him in verse 21 that Ishmael was not the promised son of covenant, and that the son of covenant was to be born the next year. Yet Abraham started the circumcision with himself and his son. “At least, that is the one God has given me now. He may not be the promised covenant son, but he’s my offspring all the same and he has a glorious destiny, just like me”.
Some people simply despise the days of little beginnings. They neglect what God has given them in anticipation of bigger things they crave from him. Not so please! Don’t say, when God answers my ‘Real’ prayer, then I will praise him and commit it to him. Don’t forget that every good gift God gives you is a test for the next package he wants to give you. If he gives you just one talent and you cannot make it 2, don’t fool yourself into thinking he will give you 10, even if you fast out your bowels or donate all your belongings to the poor. I mean, don’t be like the naughty servant in Matt 25:24-25. God cannot be hoodwinked or swindled. He cannot be mocked, whatever a man sows, he will reap (Gal 6:7) So, if you don’t have enough trust in Him, faith and diligence to trade 1 talent just so it can be multiplied to two. Don’t be deceived into thinking he will trust you with 10 talents because you are promising him you will multiply it to 100.
In Genesis chapter 18 verse 1, The Lord appeared to Abraham, and that was a reward of the complete sanctification exercise he had carried out. Oh! Abraham is indeed a father of many nations. Please be clear on this, you don’t need to be rich to care for people. You don’t need to have children before you start taking care of children. You can pay monthly salaries even before you own any business. Start with your parents and stop saying I don’t have. Start with your church and your pastor. Adopt a ministry and be a covenant partner to them. If you don’t bless them, other people will, but you would be cheating yourself and blocking your surest means of having God become your partner in prosperity.
YOU CAN’T LIVE FOR YOURSELF ONLY!
To really ‘LIVE’ is to live for others and to fulfil to the letter all that God has laid in your heart to do.
Meanwhile, to live for yourself alone is the definition of ‘EXISTENCE’. You can’t claim to be living a fulfilled life if you never care for anyone. And if you think you have achieved whatever success you lay claim to, all by yourself, then you aren’t seeing far. Psalms 103:2 says Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Gratitude is when you catalogue all, and I mean everyone you have crossed through, or have crossed through you on your path to whatever position you are now, and see all of them as inevitable instruments towards your making.
So, make the best of today’s lesson. The summary is that before God reveals himself to you there has to be sanctification. But this sanctification and setting apart is not to be achieved in you only. You must carry everyone along. That’s if you have a big destiny to fulfil.
Say Lord Jesus, thank you for this word coming to me at this season. Henceforth I will live sanctified. I will lead everyone around me to sanctification and I will lead my family by example, in Jesus Name. Amen.
Today’s lessons are many actually. Gratitude, leadership by example, covet good things for your children and all.
But as always, the biggest lesson I see today was that of Jesus whose Gospel was preached strongly by His disciples whom he led for only 3 years. Though he was betrayed by a disciple -Judas, yet another disciple Peter, alone won 3,000 souls in for Him in just one day, he became the first disciple to win souls, and that’s because Jesus his master had prepared him for that when he said in Matt 16:18 that upon this rock I will build my church. That’s “Leader coveting and deliberately imparting his spirit on followed”. It then means the choice is ours, to either be a Judas or a Peter. To either revive His grace or frustrate that grace. May we not frustrate his grace over our lives in Jesus Name
Jesus wants to save you too. There’s something bigger He even did. He bought your salvation with his blood. Can you imagine, he died, so you may live. If you’d like to appreciate that and follow him from today, or return to him as the case may be then I’m happy for you.
Say Lord Jesus, I am humbled by your love. I appreciate your death, I’m ready to follow you. Lord I repent of my sins and I receive your forgiveness. I accept you as my Lord and saviour Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
One thing very interesting these days is that there are more sermons on prayer than the actual exercise of prayer itself. People would rather preach or listen to beautiful messages about prayer than go ahead in reality and boost their prayer life. It’s the reason the world doesn’t take us seriously. The Bible says in Psalms 110 verse 3 that in the days of His power, the people shall be willing. The only way to activate that power and engage it to work for us is when we pray. When we pray, power is made available, grace is made available to ride above any weakness we have, in other words we are made powerful. But If we don’t pray, God’s power will not reduce though, but we will not experience much of His move on our behalf.
In our quest to extract all the spiritual essence and lessons the Subject called ‘RIVER’ has to offer, we again follow the statement of Jesus in John 8:38. But this time, we decided to follow a similar occurrence of the word river, somewhere else in the Bible. We move to Acts chapter 16 verse 13.
And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spoke unto the women which resorted thither.
You know we established a few classes ago, that this river to which our Lord Jesus is inviting us is He himself. That river is the definition of everything God and every thing good that God passes to us. In the last class, we also saw that the river is a place of power. Here, we want to establish that the river is a place of encounter. Now, that’s what happens every time we pray. However, the encounter at the river is not always an ordinary encounter. Hence, the kind of prayer we’re talking about here is that which comes from a thirsty heart.
Please, make no mistakes, the river is a place of encounter, and there’s no real encounter between man and God, without prayer. Prayer is that connection. It is the point of exchange of spiritual virtue between God and Man. He takes our mortality and injects it with divinity. Then the world sees the manifestation. Simply put – No prayer, no power. More prayer, more power. Jacob understood this much in Gen 32:27-28. He wrestled the angel (that’s prayer) until He changed his name from Jacob (meaning Supplanter) to Israel (meaning Victor)
Anytime, we hear the words ‘come’, look unto me, or call upon me, pronounced by God in the scriptures, the action needed is not really a physical walking to a certain location. It simply means, a bowing of the heart to connect to our maker. It means a deliberate response to God’s spirit and giving of priority to receiving that which he has already prepared for us. Prayer indeed is the way to initiate that connection with God and drink directly from His available grace at any time. Other things follow after the connection is established. Before you study the Bible, you have to pray that the Holy Spirit opens your eyes to see what God has for you (rhema) in the scriptures you’re about to read.
Now you see that always at the river, with your thirst, you need to start with prayer. Prayer, prayer prayer, at the Riverside of prayer.
Let us look at a few other examples.
In Psalms 35 verse 5, Bible says
They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.
That looking unto him simply means Praying unto him,
In Jeremiah 33:3 Where God says call unto me, what it means is ‘Pray unto me’. Anytime you reach out to God to have his attention, whether through talking out or meditating and connecting with Him with your heart, praising Him or making any request, you have prayed. But he specifically commands that we voice out our requests, in the above scriptures.
In Matt 11:28, Our Lord Jesus says
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Before you go on to verse 29 and Learn of Him, you must come first. That coming is where it begins. You must surrender your will and reach out to him for help. That’s done in prayer.
You see, we have said a lot already, we haven’t even discussed our anchor scripture for this class. Remember, the class is titled, : The River Of Prayer.
Now, let’s flip over to Acts 16:13
And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spoke unto the women which resorted thither.
Notice that the Riverside in that scripture is the place of prayer. This waterside we’ve been talking about is a place of prayer. But not just prayer for the sake of it. Praying to see God impart you with all of Him. It won’t surprise you that as soon as they left this river of prayer, manifestations began. In that same Acts chapter 16 verse 16 to 18, Bible says:
And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:
The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
And this did her many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
There you have it. Paul says – As we went to prayer. Meaning, in the mood of prayer. In verse 12, they are at the riverside for prayer, then in verse 16, even as they remained in the mood of prayer, they cast out that spirit of divination from the young girl who was possessed, apparently afflicted with that spirit by her master’s who used her for soothsaying i.e. demonic prophesying for money making. It still happens now. Many fake pastors take demonic advantage of certain members of their congregation, and perform magical acts on them, which would look like miracles to the world, so their ministry is patronized. Money making!
If you’re in this bondage, I free you in Jesus Name.
But Paul and Silas won’t stop there. They remained in their praying spirit. Of course, they were arrested, and prosecuted, for setting that captive girl free, because they just ended their wicked merchandise. All the wicked merchandise of your enemies over your soul is hereby ended in Jesus Name. Everyone trading the future of people in our nations for selfish financial gains for them and their families. All such people are hereby cut down and destroyed in Jesus Name.
But Paul and Silas are teaching us another lesson. When you pray, even in the midst of persecution, be sure your victory is won! Keep praying, but again, keep praising. Paul and Silas were naked for delivering the captive girl from the spirit of divination, but instead of retreat, they advanced again in prayers inside the jail. In verse 25, they prayed and sang aloud, so much that other prisoners heard them.
In verse 26, there was an earthquake, and the prison foundations shook and the doors flung open. Hallelujah. Remember that all these started from verse 13, at the Riverside of prayer.
What more can I say? The point is made, the revelation is simple.let it provoke you right now to prayer. if you can, burst into tongues and start praying in the spirit. Or why not simply open your mouth and sing praises unto him. Come always to the Riverside of prayer. Drink and soak in all the grace you need. There are battles ahead, and there are victories to be won. Pray, so you have enough power available to overcome. Hallelujah!
Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden. That comes is an open surrender of the heart in prayer. This time, I invite you to Jesus, to the river of life himself, he is ready to deliver you from every form of oppression. Come and he will save you. If you’ve been here once ,but you left,I mean if you aren’t sure of your relationship with God anymore, then this call is for you too.
Say Lord Jesus, I heed your call and I come to you. Please accept me, I’m sorry for all my sins. I repent of them and forsake them all. I accept your forgiveness and I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. From today I’m free and delivered. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus Name. Amen.
This river is indeed a place of perfection. Everything you need for a successful Christian race is found there. We have found joy at the river, we have found juice at the river, and we have also received power at the river.
But there something we mustn’t miss at this river. It is repentance.
In Mark 1:4-5, Bible says-
John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
And there went out unto him all the land of Judea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.
John preached the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins, in preparation for the baptism with the Holy Ghost to be initiated by Jesus Christ and which later happened on the day of Pentecost. It then goes to show that the baptism of repentance is quite important. In verse 8 of that Mark chapter 1, John said clearly that:
“I Indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.”
As a matter of fact, John conducted this baptism of repentance in a river. Ahaa, that takes us again to the perfect nature of God, the river. Everything is found in the river. All you need is to come thirsty. When you come to the river, He gives you what you need. Now He’s saying that repentance is made easy for you at the river.
In Mark 1:5, Bible says
“And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.”
Yes, that’s the river once again. The river provokes repentance. God always provokes repentance in you when you come to Him. He doesn’t condemn you. But He makes you see yourself as in a mirror. You see who you are, and who He is, which is who He wants you to be. Then he convicts you of sin. On your part, you acknowledge your guilt and repent of your sins and confess them to him.
He in turn forgives you. What a loving God we serve. Now, make no mistakes. You may be born again, but you may also need to repent of some things if you want to see him move with you in a different dimension. We have said in a few classes ago that the extent to which you make him Lord over your life (even when you have already accepted him as saviour) is the extent to which you will see him move in your life.
Whenever you engage in habits that do not please God, – maybe deceit, lies, and other sinful habits, it’s because you do not yet trust him to help you and heal you in those areas. Hence, he leaves you to struggle with them. If you delay in letting go of those sinful habits, the devil may start taking advantage of you in those areas. Many Christian’s have been careless and got destroyed because they held back certain areas of their lives. When the world learns of their downfall, they say many things in ignorance, whereas it’s a failure unreleased territories of their lives, and the devil capitalized on such to take hold of them.
Satan will not take hold of you because of sins unrepented of, or habits and addictions you have refused to surrender to God on, in Jesus Name.
A husband who yells at his wife, an employee depriving his employees of pay, children disobedient to parents, pastors blocking the promotion of their subordinates, etc. The list is endless, what are those things you need to repent of? Yes, you’re a Christian, tongue talking, spirit filled and all that, but what are those corners in your life you’re yet to surrender to Jesus.
And you see, here’s the reason why we hold back. Sometimes we think the world will mock us when they get to know that we have such weaknesses. All you need is just one cry out. They may mock you at first, but it’s so that God can help you. Christian’s who still receive bribes may we feel, if I don’t, how will I survive? My salary cannot sustain me. That’s the exact reason you need to tell God about it and visit this river of repentance. Pour your heart to him there and resolve like the 3 Hebrews boys that whatever happens you’re not taking those bribes again. Since it’s sin.
Pause a second and think about your life. What exactly do you think you need? Those desires that motivate you to commit sin always present themselves as though you can’t live without them. But that’s a lie from the pit of hell. One who abuses drugs has created a chemical imbalance in his body that makes him thirst for the drugs as though he will die without them. Again, that’s a lie, there may be torment for a season but it won’t last. Weeping only lasts for a night. Joy comes in the morning.
For some of us, sin is not what we need to repent of. For some , it’s laziness. For many, it’s idleness, for some it’s anger that leads to sin. For many is gluttony – Eating too much. For some, it’s coldness towards God’s service. Just note that the holy spirit constantly points you to that which you have to repent of. Never give yourself any excuse, because if it isn’t sin yet, it could soon be an invitation to sin. It could be an avenue to blow off God’s grace over your life. Please beware.
And in case you’re just not sure, just resolve in your heart to drink from him. Just come to him. Set up a date with him, in prayer, in the word, say Lord, I just want to drink from your river.
You see, Our Lord Jesus himself appeared at John’s river Jordan in Mark 1:9, not for repentance, because he’s God and faultless, but of course to show us the way to repentance. Let’s read it.
And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:
And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness.
People have been visiting John at the river Jordan, getting baptized for repentance and then confessing their sins in actual repentance. Our Lord Jesus endorsed this by also visiting John at the river. But guess what? The moment he was baptized, there was an endorsement from heaven that he’s the son of God. That’s what we get when we repent. Endorsement from heaven. If you’re yet to be baptized by immersion into water. Please hurry and do so. It’s a spiritual exercise that promises spiritual blessings of endorsement from Heaven. It is symbolic of Christ’s death and resurrection and identifying with Jesus in it, qualifies us for newness of life, as the Bible says in Rom 6:4
Bible says in Romans 6:4 –
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
That’s it, repentance at this river earns you newness of life.
At the river, you receive power to be free from those sins as you confess them.
So brother/sister , do I need to repent? Do so today. Or are you even yet to encounter Jesus? Today is your encounter day. Just reach out and say Lord Jesus. I’m glad I’m at the river. I’m ready to repent of my sins. I immerse myself into you and drink. I receive power to forsake my sins. I repent of them totally. And I accept you as my Lord and Savior.
This is what the LORD says: “A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.”*
We are comforted in all sides, in all ways, from all wounds, in Jesus Name. Our hearts bleed, but we still have courage to praise, and to pray, and we know God hears. Thank you Jesus, because you’re our only hope.
Thus says the LORD: “Refrain your voice from weeping, And your eyes from tears; For your work shall be rewarded, says the LORD, And they shall come back from the land of the enemy.
Weep no more Nigeria, your cries have been heard. Indeed, God sees and hears and he will heal our land.
1. Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
2 Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.
3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
And then Jeremiah 31:17
𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐈𝐒 𝐇𝐎𝐏𝐄 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐅𝐔𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄
There is hope in your future, says the LORD, That your children shall come back to their own border.
Weeping may tarry for a night, but Joy cometh in the morning. We restore hope and strength to alll those who has lost a loved one. You shall be comforted on every side.

Even though history was made last night, 20th October, 2020, in Nigeria, that history will not repeat itself in Jesus Name. Let’s gather our pieces and move on. Our Redeemer lives and will convert our ashes into beauty in Jesus Name.
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. – Isaiah 61:3
4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations. – Isaiah 61:4
𝗛𝗢𝗪𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥 , your need to come to Jesus. Our Eventual destination after this life is determined by accepting Him now as your Lord and Saviour. Don’t be late, you repent today andacceot him as Lord and Saviour. Say Lod Jesus, I repent of my sins and I’m ready to forsake them. I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Come into my hear Lord, and write my name in your book of Life. Thank you Lord Jesus, In Jesus Name. Amen.
