THE SPIRIT SEES | John 16:13b | I Am Spirit – Lesson 23 – David Adeniji

The first time I shopped in a departmental store , my thought was, “how do they monitor customers to prevent shoplifting, since no seller is following customers to pick those goods?” Well, my curiosity was solved when I knew that CCTV cameras are installed everywhere.

Compare the spirit’s vision over us to those CCTV cameras. The Holy spirit is a seeing spirit. The first thing he SAW was LIGHT, in Gen 1:4. That’s profound! Your physical eyes can only see objects at your spot. You can’t even watch your own back. Many animals have far better eyesight’s than humans. But the Holy Spirit sees beyond the physical. He’s God’s Spirit. And since you’re spirit too, he loves to show you things in the spirit, if only you’ll care to embrace this attribute of His.

In John 16:13b, Bible says, He will show you things to come. He sees the end from the beginning, and he’s always excited to show His children. When you’re about to make new choices, take new steps, go new places, enter new deals and new relationships with people, the Holy Spirit visits you with a vision, a word, a leading, something to see about that new plan. And many times, He does this at His own instance, without your inquiry…that’s if you pay attention.

But sometimes you have to ask him, just like Daniel did, in Dan 2:16-22. Light dwells with him, light is His nature. He reveals deep and secret things. He’s more than willing to show you, if only you’d worship him as Daniel did, and take advantage of this seeing attribute of His. The spirit sees, and he shows. From today, He will show you, in Jesus Name?

SPIRIT OF TRUTH | John 16:13 | I Am Spirit – Lesson 22 – David Adeniji

When a teacher gives her students homework, it’s so they can practice and get independent. But a teacher doesn’t appoint another person to teach students the homework at home. Well, Jesus is a different teacher, because thats exactly what He did. He has given us his Holy Spirit to remind us of His lessons and help us with the assignments he has given. So says John 14:26

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

The Holy Spirit is given to us by Jesus, to help us solve the life assignments he has given us, while we await His return. In John 16:13, Jesus calls him: THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH.

But scripture confirms repeatedly that Jesus is that truth. John 14:6 says that ‘I am the way, THE TRUTH, and the Life’. Jesus is Truth. When He said ‘You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free’, what He meant was that ‘You shall know ME and I shall set you free. John 1:14 & 17 confirmed that Jesus is full of Grace and truth.

The spirit of truth is therefore the spirit of Jesus. The Holy Spirit is the spirit of Jesus! Hallelujah. He’s the one that’ll help you live a life of truth, honesty, holiness, without struggle. To live this kind of life without the Holy Spirit’s help is the foundation of all frustration.

Religion may have taught you that you’ll only qualify to receive the Holy spirit when you have achieved that clean/holy spiritual nature, but that’s not true. The reverse is the case, He’s your holiness. You need the Holy Spirit to even get a chance at Jesus’ perfection. 1 John 2:1 however shows there must be a balance. The Holy Spirit is your refiner, purifier, comforter, advocate, he’s that truth and holiness you want to attain. So, receive Him Today, in Jesus Name. Amen!

THE COMFORTER HAS COME | John 14:16 | I Am Spirit – Lesson 21 – David Adeniji

When I googled the word comforter, I found that one of its most popular meanings is that it’s a very fluffy and thick blanket that keeps you warm. Can you imagine, to have a comforter is like being sandwiched inside protection. You’re always covered.

But what’s the Bible meaning of comforter? The Greek word (Parakletos) translated as ‘comforter’ in John 14:16 is also translated as ‘advocate’ in 1 John 2:1. So, Comforter as Jesus meant it, in John 14:16, also means advocate. And an advocate is one who supports you or recommends you publicly and openly. In fact, from what we read in 1 John 2:1, where Bible says:

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

Picture the Holy spirit, your comforter, your advocate, like the media aides of the politician, who would always defend their principals, irrespective of what people say about them. It’s that serious, that’s who the Holy Spirit is to you. Now, don’t take that as a licence to go sinning, but He’s your greatest fan. Be rest assured that He always has your back.

But then understand also that according to John 14:16, Jesus Christ our Lord has prayed for the comforter to come and the comforter has been given in Acts 2:4. So don’t go praying for God to Give you the holy spirit or the comforter. He has already been given Jesus has prayed that prayer.

Your part is to RECEIVE him. Just like the Samaritan Christian’s did in Acts 8:14-15. Yes, you have the holy Spirit at new birth, according to Romans 8:16, but there’s another dimension you must receive, with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Jesus instructed his disciples to tarry in Jerusalem until they receive that, and they did, and they received, in Acts 2:4. That’s the comforter. If you don’t have him yet, RECEIVE Him now, in Jesus name. Amen!

The Holy Spirit – Who is He? | John 14:16, 16:13 | I Am Spirit – Lesson 20 | David Adeniji

In the late 1930s two young men created a children’s storybook character called ‘Casper the friendly ghost’. One of them created the idea while the other created the illustrations and drawings.

This came to my mind, because as children, Casper gave us an insight into what ghosts are – inanimate spirits that could penetrate any surface. The dictionary also defines ‘ghost’ as the spirits of dead persons appearing to the living . But that’s not the KJV Bible’s intention of the word ‘Ghost’ in HOLY GHOST.

The Holy spirit is a PERSON! Just like your friend whom you see. Just as it was Jesus who confirmed to us that God is a Spirit, in John 4:24, He also confirmed to us that the Holy Spirit is a person, in John 14:16

…That ‘HE’ will guide you forever – John 16:3b. Notice He didn’t say ‘it’. The Holy spirit is real, He’s a person. You can talk to him, and discuss with him. Instead of looking for just anyone to pour your hearts to, pour it to the Holy Spirit first!. Some of us have talked ourselves into more trouble in the name of talking to a friend. Talk to the Holy Spirit first.

See also John 16:13 – Six times, in that verse Our Lord Jesus referred the Holy Spirit as ‘He’. Henceforth, talk to the Holy spirit as a friend, talk to him first. And remember he has feelings too, he can be delighted, and can be displeased. He’s gentle, and he will leave if you don’t recognize his presence and talk with him regularly. Apologize to him now if you need to, and be sincere with that. He’s a person, he’s with you now. Praise Jesus, Hallelujah.

One of my most memorable experiences in kindergarten school was the swing on our playground. There’s something about that swing. In my first few weeks of school, I only watched the other children with fear. They would throw themselves high in the air, back and forth, with so much confidence. They never imagined a fall. I however, always imagined, “what if they fall?” So I didn’t dare it.

But they persuaded me, I tried it out, they tossed me to and fro, I closed my eyes, and before long, I got over the phobia. I soon got used to it. I learnt to swing, by swinging. But I didn’t stop there, soon, I was flying higher, just like the other children, without fear!

That’s what the spirit is saying today. He’s inviting you to come up higher. Yes, you are walking in the spirit, you have been through gestation, you have rooted yourself deep in fellowship with God, but now it’s time to even go up higher. Remove the barrier, overcome the fear, and launch out into that height that God is calling you unto, in everything – career, business, ministry, marriage, just name it. You need to overcome the fear of “what if I fail?”

In Rev 4:1, John the beloved, said, “after this I looked, and beheld a door open unto me in heaven”…then he heard a voice that says “Come up higher”. That means he was already high up, but he needs to come higher.

In verse 2 the next thing was that he found himself in the spirit. In Job 29:19, Bible says “My root spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch. My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand.

That’s what happens when you decide to go up higher. For John, he landed in the spirit. What a word! From Job 29:19-23, since your root already runs deep in Him, His supernatural supply gives you the newness you need. And that is exactly what the Holy spirit does.

Rejoice friend, this is your invitation to a higher level, in all that God is calling you unto, in all that you are presently. Brace up, and move higher in Jesus Name. Amen.
