FAITHFUL IS HE WHO CALLED YOU | 1 Thess 5:24 | I Know Whom I Believed – Lesson 27 | David Adeniji
As children, we had this assurance that when we run errands for certain adults, we will always be rewarded. It wasn’t the size of their gift that thrilled us, but their faithfulness each time. The promise of their reward was the energy that propelled us all through the errand.
1 Thess 5:24 says Faithful is He who has called you, who will also do it. ‘Do what?’ Anything and everything we have committed into his hands. 2 Tim 1:12, is the anchor scripture for this series – “I know whom I believed, and I’m also persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed into him against that day. There’s always this assurance inside me that God has committed his integrity towards my cause. He’s so real to me, believe me, He is!
But you may argue, ‘am I called?’ Yes you are. If you love God, you’re called first unto holiness, and called according to His purpose (Rom 8:28, Eph 1:4), and he will make that purpose known to you if you’ll seek Him diligently. Isaiah 45:19 has promised that he hasn’t called us to seek Him in vain. So how do we seek him? Wait on him consistently. I have discovered a secret to success. It’s called consistency. Don’t seek for one week and take a break next week!
Let’s bring this home. Our encounters with God further proves His faithfulness to us beyond human doubt. Jesus had an encounter – This is my beloved son, with whom I’m well pleased – Matt 3:17. Moses had an encounter out of the burning bush – ‘Pull off your shoes, the ground you’re on, is holy ground’ – Ex 3:5.
Paul had an encounter in his way to Damascus – ‘I am Jesus whom you persecute, get up and go into the city’ – Acts 9:5. Isaiah had an encounter – ‘In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord….I am a man of unclean lips’ – Isaiah 6:1,5. My own salvation encounter hasn’t left me, and then more encounters, I pastored a church at 20 years…. What are your encounters? Invoke them Every time you need to remind yourself of God’s integrity towards your cause.
