Home / HOLINESS – The Price & The Prize | Heb 12:14 | I Know Whom I Believed – Lesson 25 | David Adeniji

Price is what you pay in exchange for something. Prize is the reward you get for outstanding performance. For your holiness, Jesus has paid the ultimate price. He paid with His life. But as it is with all other commands or blessings of God in the scriptures, there’s a part for you to play. There’s a price. It is only at creation that man paid no part. He created you without your consent. Worship Him always. But even at new birth, you played a part. You believed unto rightousness and confessed unto salvation – Rom 10:10.

So, what’s the price I need to pay? Heb 12:14 says ‘Follow peace with all men, and HOLINESS, without which no man shall see God’. That scripture introduced us to a whole new realm. It introduced a price and a prize. The price is ‘Follow Peace With All Men’ while the prize is ‘You will see God’. Remember, Jesus says He has prepared a place for us in Heaven, and there we’ll be with God forever. Let’s hold that ‘prize’ part for now, we will delve into it next week. For today, let’s see the ‘price’ part of that scripture.

Heb 12:14 established a connection between your holiness and the peace you have with all men. And all men includes you! How do you follow peace with all men. First, check your communication. How much love is communicated through you. Col 4:6 tells us to season our words with grace and salt. In other words, don’t talk to hurt, talk to heal. You shouldn’t aim to win an arguement at the expense of losing a relationship. Your heart is like a field, if you hold grudges (weed) there, the spirit of Holiness will not operate.

How do you follow peace with all men? Limit your words. Love more talk less. Bible says only fools speak all their minds always – Prov 29:11. When you let out all your words all the time, you will transgress in words and hurt people. You will hurt yourself too. James 3:2 says if you can control your tongue, it proves that you have perfect control over yourself in every other way. Even while you speak the truth, let the holy Spirit guide your choice of words. Receive help to pay this price, in Jesus Name. Amen?
