You hear people say that couples begin to look alike after a few years in marriage. That is true of me and my wife happiness. Interestingly, it’s the same with our marriage with Jesus, a marriage of two spirits. See, you have no choice but to be holy, not only because you want to, but because you have been made to. Your ‘husband’ is thrice holy (Isaiah 6:3) and you have assumed his nature at new birth.

We have established earlier that our relationship with God is a marriage of 2 spirits. That is, God’s spirit intertwining with our spirit to become one – 1 Cor 6:17. We have also seen that we are bought with the most expensive price. Jesus paid our ‘bride price’ with his life – his blood – and so, we lost the right to live our lives our own way, just as sin, satan, sickness, sorrow, poverty, hell, etc all lost the power to dominate us (Rom 6:14), Hallelujah!! Our body now belongs to our ‘love’, our saviour, our Jesus!

Bible says what God has joined together, let no ‘man’ put assunder. In other words, let nothing put assunder, or we can say, let no ‘sin’ put assunder – Matt19:6. Now, note that, the marriage I’m talking about here is the marriage of two spirits at new birth, the holy Union between you and and Jesus so, that scripture still applies. Holiness became your default nature at new birth. So, when you patronize sin willingly, or you’re addicted to a sinful habit, you’re ignorantly struggling to be who you’re not. Here’s how to be free. Write these truths on a paper and command them on yourself morning, afternoon and evening. Command your spirit to align with God’s spirit.

But also, deliberately snub every opportunity to taste that sin. 2 Cor 6:18 says Flee Fornication … And by extension other sins. This is possible because verse 17 is the power you need to. Verse 17 says – ‘He that is joined with the Lord is one spirit with him. Meaning, you can be holy, free from sin, because you are in a marriage of 2 spirits! Hallelujah, Amen.
