IS THAT YOUR ALL ?| John 2:7 | My Jesus Today – Lesson 26 | David Adeniji
In our relationship with God, we are the variables, He is constant. Now, here’s what that means. God’s size is fixed, nothing can make Him bigger or smaller. His power is the same, yesterday, today and forever (Heb 13:8). He’s all knowing (1 John 3:20), no event in the universe can teach him any lesson. He owns all the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10), He created them anyway, and so, God is already rich, He cannot be richer, neither will he lose whatever he already has.
So you see, God is a constant. But in our shallow human minds, we have equated God with one who perhaps loses and gets unhappy when we give him less. NO! Capital NO! Matter of fact, if we refuse to praise him, he won’t even wait to convert stones to humans to praise him, Bible says stones will immediately cry out in praise (Luke 19:40). That’s Awesome. God is complete, he’s sovereign, He’s infinite, He’s a constant. Glory! Praise God, Hallelujah!
NOW to us! We are the variables in the creation equation. Man is unstable (James 1:8). There’s nothing we have that He didn’t give us. And there’s nothing he has that he hasn’t already given (Eph 1:3). Whatever you want from Him and you don’t yet have, He isn’t the one withholding, it’s either you haven’t built the capacity for more or you’re altogether asking outside his will or you don’t know enough to have faith for that, or it’s just not God’s time for that request.
Buttom line, is that your all? Is there more room you can create for God in your life? there’s usually always more capacity in us to receive more of all he has made available. But most times, we aren’t exploring that capacity. We’ve placed a peg on how much of God we can enjoy. We don’t increase our fellowship with him, we refuse to enlarge our hearts to accommodate more of his word and hence more love for God and towards our world.
Worst thing is that we have allowed religion stereotype our response to God. We refuse to venture into the deep and know God for ourselves and not from the perspectives of our teachers only. Well, look at the servants in John 2:7. Jesus only told them to fill the pots, but they filled it to the brim. That’s today’s lesson. Exhaust yourself in fellowship. Don’t leave any space that can be utilized to serve God, and to walk with him. You aren’t doing God a favour, you’re the one to benefit from giving your all. I receive this message Lord, and I fill my heart to the brim, with God’s love, in Jesus name, Amen.
