In school, we noticed that some students among us who repeatedly topped the class in each examination, were not neccesarily always more brilliant than the rest of us. Of course, many of them were, but we realized that the lecturers handled their scripts with exceptional confidence and care, because these students over time, in addition to their brilliance, had developed personal rapport and relationships with the lecturers. Hence, examiners see them as reference points for other students.
This relates perfectly with today’s topic – The Knowledge of The Holy – Prov 1:9. God is the one referred to as ‘Holy’. Meaning, He doesn’t just have Holiness as an attribute, Another name for Him is ‘Holy’. Hence, you can’t claim to be Holy, except He makes you Holy – 1 Pet 1:16. A tenant cannot know the house more than the one who built it. Visitors can’t know their way round your apartment better than you the main occupant. The depth of your Holiness is then equal to the depth of your knowledge of Him who says He is ‘Holiness’!
Even Jesus Christ was declared to be the son of God according the spirit of Holiness – Rom 1:4. So, there’s a spirit of Holiness. Instead of going about trying to hedge out holiness according to the numerous do’s and dont’s that religion teaches us, why not let’s simply deepen our Knowledge of the Holy, so he increasingly makes us Holy. I said in the last lesson (Gal 5:16) that , to avoid fulfiling the lusts of the flesh, don’t focus on the works of the flesh, instead, walk in the spirit, taking each fruit (Gal 5:22-23) as a project that should manifest in your life. But here today, we’re saying, The Knowledge of the ‘HOLY’ is the understanding of Holiness!
There’s a balance however. The same Jesus Christ also loved righteousness and hated iniquity – Heb 1:9. So, you can’t go about hating righteousnes and loving iniquity, and then think the Spirit of Holiness will abide with you. Receive the Knowledge of the Holy, today, in Jesus Name. Amen.
