We have seen that the one of the manifestations of the spirit of the world is the lust of the flesh (1 John 2:16) and in the last three lessons, we saw that this lust of the flesh manifests in too much appetite for food, for bodily pleasures and for sleep. So how do we escape being dominated by the flesh? Praise God, the Bible has a simple solution – WALK IN THE SPIRIT – Gal 6:15
But can you walk in a spirit you don’t know? Can you walk in the Holy Spirit, when you don’t have the Holy Spirit? Yes, I agree you have the Holy spirit if you’ve received Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. i.e. you’re born again. But are you really Born again? Seriously, are you? If you doubt that you are, then you’re not. Please come to Jesus today. You may need to rededicate your life to Him.
However, if you’re born again, I’m happy for you. It means you have the Holy Spirit already. But that’s not all. There’s another level called the ‘Infilling’, the ‘Outpour’. The one that happened on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2). A few folks had it also in the old testament. In fact, 2 people had it in the New testament, before Jesus was born!
In Luke 1:45, we had seen that faith always performs, but there’s something else I saw there. In Luke 1:34, after the angel announced to Mary that she would be the mother of Jesus, Mary expressed her humility and sincere emptiness. She said ‘How will this happen?’. Guess what? The angel’s response was that ‘THE HOLY GHOST SHALL COME UPON YOU’. Here humility, sincerity opened her up for reception. How hungry and humble are for the Holy Spirit’s outpour?
Fast forward in that scripture, as Elizabeth heard Mary, the Baby in her leaped for Joy (Luke 1:454, NIV), We could say, Elizabeth showed exceeding joy. Both humility and joy are fruits of the holy spirit you received at salvation. We find that in the same anchor scripture were considering in Gal 6:22. Your joy is your biggest treasure. Without it, you get nothing else. It’s your ticket to the outpour of the Holy Spirit, any day, anytime (Isaiah 12:3). This day, I decree an output on you, as you read this, in Jesus Name. Amen!
