Part 2- ARE YOU COMPASSIONATE ? | Matt 9:36 | The Lord Of The Harvest – Lesson 14 | David ADENIJI

Once, when I was a little boy, I stayed by my father’s bedside in the hospital. My mother was there too. A group of young doctors walked into the ward to check each patient. These patients were in pain. When they got to my father, their leader examined him and at the same time lectured his students, referring and holding up my father more like a ‘specimen’ and not a patient in need.

My mother got very angry and sent them out of his bedside. I mean, she was really mad at them. “That’s callous of you! You dare come here and examine my husband as though he’s one piece of specimen? Are you more concerned about teaching your students than getting him healed?” When I grew up, I knew what was missing – Compassion.

Compassion is who Jesus is. In Matt 15:32-39, even after healing everyone who came to him, He refused to send them away hungry. He fed more than 5,000 of them with just few loves of bread and fishes. Compassion is what made him go about in Acts 10:38, doing good and healing all that are oppressed of the devil. Compassion is how Joseph discovered in Gen 40:7 that the butler and Baker looked sad in the morning. They didn’t tell him. He found out himself. That’s compassion.

Compassion makes you give to people even when they aren’t asking. Compassion multiplies the worth and value you place on people. Compassion makes an employer see his employers as friends and not objects that are played about on a chess game. Compassion makes a leader see his followed as humans and not tools. Compassion makes a doctor see the real needs of his patients, rather than see them as specimens. It makes you see your clients as stakeholders and not money pipes.

It makes you express your love unconditionally. Compassion makes you forgive unconditionally. Ephesians 4:32 (NIV) says: Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Ephesians 4:32. So, once again I ask you today – Are You compassionate? Because Bible asks you to show compassion to people, even if they offend you. But many of us are guilty of this. We are cold to our friends even. Compassion makes you love and express the love at all times. From today, compassion is activated in you, just as we see it in Jesus…in Jesus Name. Amen!
