When I completed my university degree in computer science & engineering, I and a few other friends had discovered we didn’t have the requisite skills expected of us by employers of labour in our preferred industry. So, I chose to stay back in school to sharpen my software engineering skills, during the break, while everyone else went home to celebrate.

In those 4 months, I did more of prayer and Bible study than programming. One of those days, after praying all through the night till morning, I felt myself floating, about 1 meter from the ground. The feeling was soothing, the experience was purely supernatural. It took a few minutes before I recovered back to myself. But it was an awesome encounter. It changed the course of my spiritual life.

Encounters are personal experiences with this supernatural God that takes us one step deeper into the supernatural. Encounters are turning points into a new era of glory, in our walk with God. Encounters mark the end of some struggle and ushers us into a new realm of ability. When I and happiness got married, we waited for 6 months before conception. That waiting could have lasted for years, but for an encounter. We both gathered about 100 people in our local assembly for an evening praise. Everyone had an encounter, our conception happened and we had a boy! Praise God.

If you’ve never had an encounter, you should start praying for one. Interestingly, many encounters in the Bible were received personally. Please start asking for an encounter from God today. Our Lord Jesus submitted himself to be baptized by John the Baptist in John 3:15-17 and the heavens opened upon him. That encounter marked the beginning of His earthly ministry. Moses led his father in-law – Jethro’s sheep diligently. God saw in him a liberator for his people who had been crying for freedom, and called him out of a burning bush whose leaves didn’t burn. Encounters come in diverse ways, but we can initiate them deliberately. Say Lord Jesus, I need an encounter today, in Jesus Name, Amen!
