WHAT’S YOUR LEVEL OF SURRENDER ? – PHIL 2:10-11 | LESSON 16 | DAVID ADENIJI

Home / WHAT’S YOUR LEVEL OF SURRENDER ? – PHIL 2:10-11 | LESSON 16 | DAVID ADENIJI

In the last class we started by showing that there are depths in the river and we’re at different depths in the river. Some are at the bank. Still nervous and don’t want their legs to touch the water. You’re at that level if you’re not yet saved. Please decide for Jesus today.

Some of us have moved a little bit further and the water is now at our ankle level. We’re not saved, Hallelujah. So in the last class we looked at the water at the ankle level. And we compared that with the feet level and the question was, what depth are you in Christ? Your goal is to always move deeper.

The anchor scripture was Ezekiel 47 verses 2 to 5. In that last class, we stopped at verse 3 where we saw the first level of depth. So let’s see Ezekiel 47 verse 3 again.

3]And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles.

And then to explain what the ankle level meant, we flipped over to Ephesians 6:15. I’m recapping the last class. Ephesians 6;15 says

[15]And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

In other words, your very first reaction to your salvation should be that joy you’ll begin to express the same way that the Samaritan woman at the well was very excited to jump into the city to announce that she had met the saviour. That’s in John 4:28-29. Bible says

John 4:28-30
[28]The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,

[29]Come, see a man, who told me all things that ever I did: is not this Christ?

[30]Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

This has proven to us that the very first depth we should be, is a point where we are always excited about our salvation and sharing it.

Are you still excited about your salvation? Never lose that excitement, no matter what. Had you not been saved, by now, you may be dead, or the devil may have gotten a better part of you. I look back sometimes and see that if God had not saved me, I don’t even know where I will be now.

The Bible says in Psalms 124 that if it hadn’t been the Lord who was on our side, things would have gone really bad for us.

The story of the Samaritan woman shows us that the very first depth we should achieve, that ankle or feet level is the level where you get excited about your salvation. People may wonder what’s getting you always excited despite all you’re going through. You always say things like, I’m saved, I love Jesus, when you send people messages, there’s always that tone of excitement to let people know about your Jesus, you just can’t hide it. Some of us didn’t know we had to convert that excitement into action by sharing the joy of our salvation with others.

These days, there are so many channels to do that. Physically, virtually, in person, remotely, by broadcast messages on social media and all that.

Why would you not share the joy of your salvation. God always exempts you from evil happening all around. It’s one thing to Thank God for that, but it’s another step forward, to share it. Your joy and excitement should also lead you to sharing with others.

Now, all of this introduction was what we did in the last class. Let’s move on to the second level of depth.

THE KNEE LEVEL – Signifies surrender

According to that same anchor scripture in Ezekiel 47:2:5. Now, we’re in verse 4 which says:

4]Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins.

That’s the knee level. As you move further into the river, the water now rises to your knee. The water is actually not rising really, rather you’re the one moving. You’re making efforts. God will not come down to your level, you will instead make efforts to move closer to him.

So, how do we explain the knee level? The second level of depth. The knee level signifies Surrender. As we stay longer at the river, the water rises to our knees. That is the place of surrender. Hallelujah. The place of surrender, as we see it in Phillipians 2:10. Oh I love God’s word, so sweet, when you dig deep into it. Phillipians 2:10 talks about surrender.

Philippians 2:10-11

[10]That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

[11]And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

At the name of Jesus, every knee should bow. So the knee level is the place of surrender. That’s how you know your depth. Your level of surrender. Are you still holding things tight up. Let’s break this down. Arguing with everyone shows your level of surrender. One who argues with men will also argue with God. Stop that argument. Reduce it or remove it totally. The more you talk, the less you hear. If you’d like to hear God speak, then talk less.

Stop talking too much. Even where you have good intentions. When you talk too much you invite sin. When you talk too much you squander grace and anointing, things get flat and all that. I just pray that God gives me the grace to express the burden I have on this topic.

Let’s paint this picture very well. One of the things to surrender is your flesh. And in this class, I’m particular about your mouth. Of course you should surrender all of your body, but let’s lay some emphasis on your mouth. We’ve made a very salient point that when you argue too much with men, you will argue with God, and that’s even if you hear his voice. Why not talk less and meditate more in God’s word. Even if you’re right, when you talk too much, you limit the holy spirit. For example, for those of us who talk for a living, or who are preacher’s of the word. You may have a sermon to preach, and you just think that the more you talk, the more the people get impatient. No. Why not allow God to do the talking through you.

The point is made in this class. Your level of surrender shows your depth. This second level is that level where the water has moved up to your knees and that’s the place of surrender, according to Phillipians 2:10. Every knee should bow, that includes you. Every knee means everyone. So you’re to surrender your will to His.

Are you here and you need to surrender to Jesus, why not kneel down where you are and say Lord, I surrender to you completely. You may have been with Him already but you now need to surrender your will to him henceforth.

Say Lord Jesus, I come to you today, I surrender my will and intellect to you. I receive your grace for salvation. I repent of my sins and I forsake them all. I receive you as my Lord and saviour. In Jesus Name, Amen.

In today’s class, we all need to go to God in prayer so he shows us all the areas we need to surrender. In fact, if you pay attention now, he’s already showing you. Please don’t refuse this time. Obey instead.

In the next class, we will look at the third level. The WAIST level according to Ezekiel 47:4b

Thank you for staying till the end of the class. Let’s meet again, by God’s grace, in the next class. Amen.
